Toronto calling. Wow, feels weird to be using a different computer. This must be a sign that I spend way, way too much time at work. (Also Daddy has this display set at 800x600 and the monitor's about a foot from my face -- I feel like I should be across the room. Bizarre.)

Just taking a break from Christmas wrapping (gee, I've wrapped all of 2 presents so far -- not like there's much to take a break from) to report on my whirlwind of party-going. Friday: packed until 9 and drained the water out of my sink (most of the dishes are clean). Made it up to Sian's for excellent party (donated bottle of cassis and Secret Santa cashews to the cause, much appreciated by all). Not at all keen on Joanne's man. Mind you some days I have my doubts about Joanne, and it could just have been the very French-from-France accent, which nowadays strikes me as tremendously affected. OTOH, this is apparently a man who makes rape jokes. On the 3rd hand, I only know this because Joanne told one of them. Yecch. Anyway, no accounting for tastes. Met Sian's brother and his Japanese girlfriend, both sweethearts; saw Yveta and Esther and Karen; met Sian's boyfriend who's very nice indeed, I approve. JF is apparently trying to make up with Yveta AGAIN. I can't keep up. Whole business makes me very angry because I know it upsets her.

Anyway, left late at night and did make the attempt (egged on by Yveta and Joanne) to find the next party... however realized that my directions were NOT adequate and I could either drive around in the dark for another hour and not find the place, or head for the 401. So I took option B. Shame, but there you have it. Napped periodically at rest stops -- periodic is just the word for it, I'd sleep until the car got too cold and then turn on the ignition to warm up a bit. Sometimes I'd drive to the next rest stop. Got a ticket between Kingston and Port Hope, very bitter about this.

2 parties Saturday -- open house across the street, most crowded house you've ever seen, absolutely no room to move ANYWHERE and yet marvellous food kept emerging from the kitchen! Good fun. I'm still trying to find my partygoing persona especially where parties with the parents are concerned -- I mean I AM supposed to be a grown-up, but here I am attending a party in my parents' wake -- tend to regress to tongue-tied adolescence, not so good. Then nap, then off to Jen's for splendid dinner.

Sunday: slept, then Two Towers (way cool although oddly paced, not their fault), then Eldridges party. Wore my lime-green ball skirt and black baby T with the gold glitter lightning-bolt on the front (further attempt at creating partygoing personality). Good fun, talked to lots of people I hadn't seen in ages, failed to talk to others (must practice walking up to interesting-looking people and introducing self).

Today: slept, now wrapping.

Lots of sleep figuring in this. Well, I need it. Still in my PJs.

Maybe it's because Dad RE-rented it the other day (and I have seen it AND read the book, due to peer pressure only, of course. ;) ) But this entry sounds very Bridget Jones. . . . Fun seems to have been had, which is good!

Merry Christmas! Hope you were appropriately spoiled.
