The Sunday Edition just played "Sit Down, You're Rockin' The Boat." This makes me happy.

Slept with the window open last night and was perfectly comfy, except I had to get up around 6 a.m. and put on a shirt because the cold air was sneaking in around my shoulders. Love, love, love this getting-enough-sleep business.

Happy Easter, for those so inclined! (I'm not especially one of them, but habits die hard, if at all.)

Sunny day. Esther and I were searching hard for signs of spring yesterday and found very few of them... quite a few songbirds and crocuses were in evidence, though.

Obligatory dark note is struck by the closing of the Fraser-Hickson library and the cultural catastrophe in Iraq. Hush, radio! Nevertheless.

It may, in fact, be spring!

It's not quite walking around in a sundress at midnight (which is what I always dream of in the depths of winter), but walking around in a tank top and linen pants at 9 p.m. is partway there, right? Even with a leather jacket on top. The Claremont had its glass garage-door rolled up and loads of people sitting at the front, although no outside tables yet. The Dairy Queen was also doing a roaring trade. All in all, very promising.

The grocery store, unfortunately, decided to close at 5. Bastards. However, to compensate, the used bookstore decided to stay open past 9. I was strong and didn't buy anything, although I was tempted by something called "Birds of Prey" by David Drake. Aliens invade late-Empire Rome. Anyone know anything about this?

Trying to decide if I should cook anything. I'm still all full of lunch thanks to cousins (who also had sinful mini chocolate truffle eggs — soooo good). Cousin J was there, turns out she is now in an anorexia treatment program at the Douglas; seems to be doing well (anyway, they let her out for a meal) although I don't think it's something you ever recover from completely. She's taller than me and was down below 100 pounds at one point. Scary. Andrew and Mari-Ellen also there, also Mike; all in very good spirits. Andrew's going to look out the name of the B&B they stayed at in Glasgow for me.

Kitchen is still a work in progress but I have cleaned the bathroom. Well, it's smaller than the kitchen. Floor proved to be more revolting than I had realized so it's likely a good thing.

Think I'm going to try & work at home tomorrow; I'll go in for a couple of hours but I do get more done at home, and I have 3 storyboards to put together.

I nearly forgot to congratulate [livejournal.com profile] crankygrrl on her successful Lenten abstention from coffee. Yes, she made it (OK, one or two inadvertent lapses, and the panel has not actually ruled on the legality of decaf, but I for one am mightily impressed!).

According to the pool, Flip is the only one to call this result successfully. We of little faith (that would be [livejournal.com profile] scapersuse, [livejournal.com profile] mindrobber, P and I) are proved entirely wrong.

We never did decide on a prize, and to be honest I can't quite recall what this painful abstention was supposed to prove either. And I don't know how she did on the beer and melted cheese — we all kind of fixated on the coffee. All that said, heartfelt congratulations to both [livejournal.com profile] crankygrrl and Flip!

I hope you know this is my FAVORITE nine inch nails song. Many people have left your life.. and it seems that every time you are hurt even more. Sometimes you consider killing everyone that's ever hurt you, but deep down you know that you care too much to do that. You are always there waiting for them to come back into your life, and would give them everything you have if they did.. but you know you're just going to disappoint them.

What Nine Inch Nails song are you?

Uh... I'm not quite sure what to say...

It appears Sam'l Pepys ([livejournal.com profile] pepysdiary) also had the redecorating urge today (OK, not today today, but you get the idea). Don't you love historical continuity?
