Arrived too late for volleyball -- doors were locked, so since I was somewhat east anyway, I headed for the Botanical Gardens and the Chinese lantern exhibit. Gorgeous mild night and the lanterns were lovely, although it was packed. Monkey King theme this year. All the little kids had been issued with battery-operated mini-lanterns, quite delightful. There was a family of ducks swimming busily around; you'd follow a line of ripples to its source and see one, or spot a swimming silhouette against the shimmering reflection of a floating bridge.

And I've never seen so many tripods in one place.
