Rolling Library List
Aug. 25th, 2005 11:46 amSo I've decided it's high time I keep track of what I'm getting out of the library. I have 50 books on hold and I try to get them in the order I put them there, if that makes sense, but this often means it's 6 months between the time when I say "Cool, I want to read that!" and the time I actually pick it up. As a result, I often can't remember why I wanted to read it. So.
( Recently returned )
( Currently out )
( On hold )
...and because this is getting crazy, I'm going to start a new list for 2006 (to go with my new Book and Movie Binder of Doom).

Victory is in sight!
Aug. 25th, 2005 02:08 pmI just spoke to the permit guy! It sounds as though we are pretty much OK. We'll get the details this afternoon or tomorrow. I didn't ask much in the way of useful questions, but he said the main areas of concern were:
- he is making us install an interconnected smoke alarm system so we don't need to have a second exit from the third floor
- if we are converting to 3 units at any point, we need to make sure there is 45-minute fire separation between units
And the relevant sections of the building code, FWIW, are parts 9 and 11 (11 is the sneaky get-out-of-stuff section for existing buildings).
( Today's house report: udon, muscular building stuff, and some new bathroom reading )
