My aunt reports:

To all,
Today for lunch, Rejane (a friend formerly with -------), Dan, John and I had cheese fondue and salad.

Yesterday, Gill primed on the third floor and William mudded on the first floor.

Today, John was still recovering and taught class in the afternoon. Dan did sonapaning and sound channel on the second floor.*

Sorry for the delay with this report.I was going to mud, but lunch with Rejane lasted for 4 1/2 hours--during which time , unrelated, I firmed up three interesting assignments. Which shows that, sometimes in this life, lack of virtue is rewarded.
Cheers, Helen
My mother also primed on the second floor, and says she was slow enough that William took over when she downed tools and had my dining room primed in about 10 minutes flat. I believe he was mudding.

Jen and I went over after work and scraped her kitchen floor for a bit. (William was fixing floors when we got there and still fixing floors when we left.) Then we bought Japanese food and went to [livejournal.com profile] crankygrrl's for Veronica Mars -- actually two episodes, because we'd missed last week's; both were great -- and sake.

*Around the drain and the heating duct. I'm kicking myself for not taking photos of the progression of this thing, because it's seriously getting huger and huger. I know the built-in bookshelf will camouflage a lot, but I'm pretty sure part of it is still going to stick out. Mummy and I are thinking trompe l'oeil. Lots and lots of trompe l'oeil.** Sadly, I have no photo of it, but there's one particular projecting bit up near the ceiling that I think I may end up mirroring and then painting Green Men or something on. That could be cool. Or really really lame. But it's my house and I'll do what I want.
**There are way too many vowels in that word. Although not as many as I thought there were -- I looked at it for a while and then put a U in and then looked it up in the dictionary and took it out again.

My aunt reports:

Today for lunch, Dan and John went to Gabby's and had pub grub. I had a meeting.

Yesterday Dan drywalled on the first floor and William has been repairing floors. Today, John worked on the vent in Jen's bathroom.

Today in the afternoon, John called and asked me if I was free tonight. I thought: dinner and the opera? dinner with friends? a corporate function with an OK policy wonk as speaker and lots and lots of hot and cold hors d'oeuvres. Actually--his having been sick and all (Mike has the dreaded lurg now)--he meant help cleaning up floors for the floor guys who are coming in tomorrow. So, John, Jen and I trudged over in the pouring rain and lifted floor covering, moved stuff and swept. Went surprisingly quickly, all things considered. Who needs opera and hors d'oeuvres?
Cheers, Helen
I even phoned at around 6:45 to see if they needed help moving stuff, because I had a strange presentiment that they might. But no answer, so I had drinks with Cranky and friends and doled out sage very (in my case) out-of-date advice on Paris, London and Edinburgh instead. (Short version: wear comfy shoes and check the opening times of the museums.)

Then got home to find that we have a Basta for the weekend! She was thrilled to see me, and I her. She thinks she's sleeping in my room, which unfortunately isn't going to happen.

waah!

Thought I'd follow up on one of my tags and found this: Sad end to the baby muskox saga.

Alas, poor Chance. And poor Bou.
