I have Acrobat Reader again! This time they sent your more classical geeky type -- a couple inches shorter than me, mid-20s, red hair, iPod, prominent Adam's apple -- and he sorted my computer right out.

My aunt reports:

Today for lunch Dan, John and I had hot dogs.

This morning--John was marking--Dan took the car and went to Rona and bought resilient channel and insulation. At Rona, he was rescued by a kind gentleman as Dan was standing on the car trying to hold down the resilient channel and stop the sheets of insulation from flapping around and flying him away before he could strap everything down. Dan also bought contractor bags. Was also working on drywall, I believe.

Dan and Ed have been consulting about flooring. We need to buy, at Woodchuck Flooring, some white oak flooring and an oak reducer (??) and have them in place by Monday. There is a plan to fill in the floor holes in the first floor walk-through (it involves cutting things out and installing new, where there will be a break, but not important because the floors will be stained different colours.) Also to fill in the floor beside the wall.*

Ed has been putting a second coat of urethane on the second floor front room, north side. Gill was going to come in to prime, but the second floor floor has to sit until Thursday.** And then, Dan says, to go gently because the floor is pine.*** Ed will come in tomorrow afternoon to do more work on the first floor kitchen and backroom, which are looking good. Then he will return Thursday.

William has not been able to work. He will take away his sanding equipment and return next Monday.

It should be said that Dan is doing a magnificent job. He not only turns up and does the work, he has also been managing a lot of the project. John says he's particularly good at anticipating when things/work/people will be needed and taking care of it.

Cheers, Helen
*Ah. I'd been wondering about that.
**Too bad, but perhaps I will go and look at it anyway.
***? Second floor is oak. I am confused.

Yay Dan! Decidedly, yay Dan!

Now I can go on with my day. (Did not get over to the house last night to admire floors, because dinner party at home. Tonight, though, before VM.)
