House update: Wednesday
May. 10th, 2006 02:34 pmack! how is it Wednesday already?
My aunt reports:
Also not mentioned, I think: doors on the third floor! And I did go over yesterday evening and put up the new Ikea cabinet. The bad news: they appear to have changed the measurements, so it sticks up from the others by half an inch. The good news: this is actually roughly the height it should be (the other cabinets are too low); I think we can raise the others to match; and if it turns out we can't, at least the door is horizontal rather than vertical and the microwave is under the cabinet anyway and it will look fine.
Oh, and the "little strip" in yesterday's entry was indeed the bit at the top of the old plaster. So all we have left to drywall is Jen's kitchen! Well, and a few closets and the landing of the basement stairs, but I don't care about those.
My aunt reports:
Today for lunch, Dan, David, John and I had corned beef sandwiches and cole slaw. David accompanied his with Green Chartreuse.** *shudder*
They picked up Stuart and Gill's van and went to Home Depot for drywall for the first floor kitchen and maybe some other stuff. William is mudding and taping the front hallway. John is installing switches on the third floor and ceiling lights in the first floor. Has also bought wood for doors. It's all going so fast and furious now I'm losing track.
Stuart suggests that the homeowners might enjoy (?) a little real estate humour. I did. I've forwarded.
Cheers, Helen
