My aunt reports:

Today for lunch, John and I had udon noodle soup, with a tempura garnish that included fiddleheads--which I thought was admirably Canadian. Robin dropped by the investigate and take from the paint castle.

On Saturday, Gill and Robin cleaned and taped paper on the floor.

This morning, John prepared further for Rob's microwave.

This afternoon, Gill, Robin and Stuart and working on the window seat and painting. Robin is wondering if she'll get too bored putting on primer. (????? She's got more brains than a Brussels sprout.)
Cheers, Helen
I confess to being a little disheartened by the lack of apparent progress on my kitchen. But things have happened and it should go fast this week. Floor guys are coming Friday and my belongings are coming on the 31st come hell or high water. And the window seat looks great.

Am halfway tempted to skip book club this week, given that I'm not especially enjoying the book and I'd really rather work on the house.

My aunt reports:

Today for lunch, John and I had crab melts with cheddar, brie and parmesan. The reason for the exotic assortement was that some person had put back the mingiest piece of cheddar in the frig. (Cheddar by far the best.) Reminds me of the time that Jen replaced the stem from a large bunch of grapes--with one grape on it.

Stuart is working on the bookcase under Robin's bay window. William is mudding and taping on the first floor. He has also built the framework for the pipe's in Jen's kitchen. Jen will be pleased.

John is chuffed. Robin's microwave is installed and working, in spite of bad instructions from the supplier.

Dan and Dave dropped over for hammer drill. They met Stuart in Central Fairbanks lumber (formerly Dominion Coal & Tar), which is much closer than Rona. Good to know.
Cheers, Helen
WOOOHOO! My microwave is working!

Met my mother for lunch. She's gone over to paint. I'm going over to paint this evening, although I may change that to building kitchen cabinets now that the wall cabinets are (presumably) installed all the way. I forgot to mention in the earlier update, but I was quite indignant in a why-didn't-I-think-of-that? kind of way to discover John putting the back onto an Ikea cabinet using the nailgun that's run off the air compressor. SO MUCH BETTER than a hammer!
