- had my yearly (here's hoping) physical, including samples of various bits and bobs and waste products
- discovered that the reason my clothes don't fit as well as they might is that I weigh 10 lb more than I did the last time I checked, a trend I would like to arrest
- walked to work from my doctor's office
- noticed that today is farmers' market day at Nathan Philips Square (yay!)
- not got any work done
Jen and I went to Rona Lansing last night, way out in consumer wasteland (Kennedy and the 401). Got my bathroom paint tinted (Aquarium Blue), bought a quart of cheaper paint for the tub (a darker blue, which I plan to ornament with gold fishies and turtles and stars and things -- it will either look delightful or horrendous, and if the latter, well, we strip it off and try again). Bought tile adhesive, pre-mixed grout, and a tiling trowel. Bought more pot lights for my kitchen but not for the window seat in my bedroom, reckoning we had enough to be going on with. Bought lights for the bathroom and the stairs on the basis of "Hey, I don't hate it and it's cheap!" -- a year ago this would not have been enough, but my priorities (and my knowledge of light fixtures) have changed. Considered fans. Remembered I need to measure the space available. Did not buy a fan.
Jen and I ate leftover Indian food and mangoes, and Helen told me that Ken and Carol think my kitchen is fabulous -- which is very nice to hear. Checked "floors" off the list I made for each room. We all decided that as Jen's bathroom is more advanced than mine, it may make more sense to work on getting it finished -- I could then move in with my kitchen and her bathroom functioning. Left the van there for a dump run.
I didn't mean for this to be a house update. Much of what I told people about the house in Montreal was "It's like this giant planet sitting over my shoulder and taking up all my attention." It's true. I want my brain back.
