I have fixed my dad's printer problems. I am a genius. I turned the power bar on, and lo, it worked! Still may need to take up

metawidget's offer of help (there is a router around here somewhere, and it seems a shame not to have both printers and stuff hooked up, but my networking knowledge is nonexistent) but we are, for now, in business. Yay.

I am trying to persuade him to clean up the 148 emails in his inbox (not counting mailing-list stuff), but I know my limitations. He claims that he has been unable to work for some 7 years because of the computer problems that beset him. Myself I think if he dropped a match in here it would do a lot more good -- you should see the piles of paper -- but I will not, of course, suggest this. If you're trying to reduce the clutter around you, don't rip out half of every newspaper you read to file, yaknowwhatImean?

Anyway, I'm so good at avoidance myself -- who am I to censure it in others?
