(no subject)

I got to meet Sam, my cousin's 14-week-old Airedale puppy, today! We all went down to the off-leash area at the beach and wandered around and laughed at the puppy antics (well, I laughed). Blue was very good with him, which is nice -- I sort of forget he's good with puppies sometimes, because he can be a real brat to certain older dogs.

And then I napped on the couch and then I went to the library and then I ate Japanese food and then I came home and read library books. It's been that sort of day. I have a great long list of things I should be doing, but none of them appeal much.

Evenings with the dogs

Tilde is hanging out with me and Blue this evening as Jen is out. This is lovely except that sometimes she hears things and decides it is time to rouse the household. It usually goes something like this:

TILDE: Arf! Arf! Arf! Arf! Arf! Lemme at them!
ME: Tilde, there's nothing...
BLUE (upstairs): *Thump* *thumpthumpthumpthumpthumpthumpthumpdownstairs* WOOF. WOOF. WOOF. I'm here! I'm on it!
TILDE: Arf! Get them!
ME: There is NOTHING...
BLUE: WOOF! What's going on, anyway?
TILDE: See, I was RIGHT, there IS something out there. Arf! Arf! Grrrrr!
ME: ...out there!
BLUE: WOOF.
ME: Don't be a minion, Blue!
BLUE: Oh, OK. *goes back upstairs*
TILDE: Arf!
ME: Shut it!
TILDE: Oh, FINE. You'll be sorry when the evildoers get us.

(Sometimes it works the other way, except that Tilde is less likely to be set off by Blue barking. Of course if there IS actually someone at the door, all hell breaks loose.)
