Jen and Tilde arrived Saturday afternoon, with boxes and packing-tape gun. I had already liberated a bunch of boxes from Starbucks, so we were all set. We have now packed:
- all my books (damn, there are a lot! It doesn't look like so many when they're all on the shelves, but it came to about 15 boxes)
- all but a few of my CDs and tapes
- clothes I won't be using for the next little while
- stuff on my desk (all but my files, which I'll probably need for cancelling things and changes of address)
- computer (all but the CPU)
- candles, craft stuff, photos, etc.
We've filled up her car and mine (with the back seat down). There's a frightening amount left, but it's feeling somewhat doable.
There have, of course, been setbacks. I phoned my Toronto doctor's office this morning (I need my immunization records) and she's not there any more. Managed not to throttle receptionist for unhelpfulness, but OTOH failed to ask for concrete help, and I now have to figure out how to track her down. Google search turned up blank. I emailed the College of Family Physicians. Will try the office again later and see if I can find more useful information -- I mean, in theory someone there should know where she went, right?
And I phoned to book at TB test but the earliest they can fit me in is 3 weeks from now, at which point I hope to be in Toronto. Will phone the hospital and see if they can suggest a Toronto clinic instead.
Still have to contact my landlords, get rid of some of my furniture, finish up at work, decide for sure when I'm leaving, have a goodbye party, clean out my fridge, get my dad to come down with the van for a load of stuff... etc.
