I do wish more people understood what the word "liberal" means. Or "conservative", for that matter.

Date: 2004-10-25 07:32 am (UTC)(Short form: boy asks if anyone else has noticed the extreme left-wing/liberal/anti-American/anti-Israel etc. bias in the Montreal media. Community severally and together responds "So?", "Makes a nice change from all the right-wing stuff you get out of the U.S., doesn't it?", "If you want a different viewpoint, try the Globe, the Post, Global...", "You can always move if you don't like it", "Why not seek out other viewpoints online?", and "You can always write your own centre/right column if you want to debate your views." I point out that the Gazette, e.g., being an Asper/CanWest paper, cannot really be described as anti-Israel. Then I go to the guy's bio page, which is dominated by a large "Fuck Islam, that religion of terror and death," and observe that he's not really in any position to go throwing stones about bias or bigotry. Others say likewise. Original poster suggests he tells us about the joys of Communist Russia, where he came from. Original poster then packs up his toys and goes home.
No flames. I thought it was a very civil exchange of views, actually.
