Put together my bookshelves and unpacked my fiction this weekend. 8 boxes worth. I'm so happy! *sob*

(Unlike [livejournal.com profile] peake, I am very much in favour of the concept of comfort reading.)

Progress. Progress. Still no sofa, but the books make up for a lot. I spent a fair bit of time just sitting on the floor next to them, feeling happy.

Met [livejournal.com profile] crankygrrl for coffee and streetcar-catching this morning. Only 45 minutes after we'd said. (She called me at 8:20 -- i.e. 20 minutes after the scheduled time -- and the conversation went something like this:

CRANKY: I'm just getting dressed.
ME: Excellent. I'm just drying my hair.
CRANKY: Good to know we're both on track.

And at that, I managed to forget a) my coffee mug, b) my gloves, c) my music for choir tonight. Oh well.)

As [livejournal.com profile] mrs_cake so eloquently puts it, smile and shine, y'all!

One of the things I'm looking forward to doing over Christmas is putting up some new shelves.

I seem to spend an inordinate amount of time looking at our walls wondering if i could manage to squeeze in a few more shelves.

Yes! Shelves are a good, good thing to have. Especially the built-in kind so that you can get the Wall Of Books effect.

I'm pleased with mine because I now have enough that I don't need to stack my books two rows deep. This was a problem in Montreal (there were a lot of D through F authors that I didn't see for years at a time).

Of course, I still need to figure out a home for the "Unread Books" pile, which is taking up about 2 boxes at present.

YES!

(I did think of you as I was putting them up. Thank you!)
