Just yesterday Molly Ivins was predicting that next week would see the launch of a massive PR campaign to convince Americans that Social Security is a massive millstone and that it would be a good idea to privatize it.

I missed it at first with the beat-the-trade-deficit-by-buying-American quote, but it looks like she was off by a week.

"The best thing we can do from the executive branch of government in America," Bush said, "is work with Congress to deal with our deficits. One deficit is a short-term budget deficit. Another deficit is the unfunded liabilities that come with Social Security and some of the health programs for the elderly."

He said Social Security was at the top of his agenda.

I'm a little creeped out now.

He's been talking around privitizing social security for a long time though. He's like the new Margaret Thatcher, his idea is to privitize everything!
