electriclandMentoring evening turned out surprisingly good. They're just getting the program off the ground, so it was kind of an icebreaker more than anything else. Nobody else there from my year, in fact nobody I remembered barring Miss W (who I shall have to learn to call Liz) who was delighted to see me, which was nice. I was at the "Media/PR/random things none of which quite describe what I do" table with two other women who've been working for a while, and three still in university. My bizarre and random CV actually generated some excitement, much to my surprise. Who knew medical writing would be so interesting?
Dinner: appetizers, poached salmon, cold chicken, salad. Also, there were plenty of the famed school Nanaimo bars and other bad-for-you dessert bars. Mmmm.
Had a nice chat with someone who was two years behind me and just started her own art gallery. Which was cool. Have to drop by sometime.
After dinner we had a tour of the new wing, which was kind of mind-blowing -- they've added a massive underground gym, and a fitness centre, and a couple of applied science/technology/robotics labs (I am so jealous!) and some amazing kindergarten rooms, and turned the old shop into an archive. The building is BEAUTIFUL.
Then came home and crashed into bed AGAIN without phoning people who I promised to phone. I'm a bit worried about this exhaustion thing.
