Rubella outbreak described as "God's will"

Oh well, that's all right then.

"If we can get vaccination levels up, it's probably the most durable way to bring the outbreak under control and prevent future outbreaks."

Sider also said he recognized "the need to be respectful of and sensitive to" issues of religious belief.

I swear, religious pandering in the face of war, famine, pestilence and death is going to finish us off.

The thing I *love* about this is from what I've read, Rubella is most dangerous to pregnant women, or more specifically, their fetuses. So, you know, it's all well and good that these people want to let god's will decide whether or not they (and their children) get Rubella - which isn't likely to put them in serious danger - but isn't endangering OTHER PEOPLE's unborn babies kind of ... I don't know, wrong?

I guess that's just my nasty heathen side talking again.

All things dull and ugly,
All creatures short and squat,
All things rude and nasty,
The Lord God made the lot.

Each little snake that poisons,
Each little wasp that stings,
He made their brutish venom.
He made their horrid wings.

All things sick and cancerous,
All evil great and small,
All things foul and dangerous,
The Lord God made them all.

Each nasty little hornet,
Each beastly little squid--
Who made the spikey urchin?
Who made the sharks? He did!

All things scabbed and ulcerous,
All pox both great and small,
Putrid, foul and gangrenous,
The Lord God made them all.

Amen.
