In other words, the only way I could *not* be getting fucked by my insurance company would be to buy stock in them while they screwed me on prices.

ARGH. That's enraging. I wondered if Blue Cross was getting monopolistic.... (I have them, and I've watched as copays and covered treatments/drugs keep shrinking, while premiums are still rising. I'm not surprised to learn that this is, in fact, a documented phenomenon.)
