I thought the Artic Preserve only had 25 years worth of oil under it anyway. Why ruin the land and spend the money on roads, pipelanes, airstrips for something that will only delay the inevitable another couple of decades instead of putting the money into renewable energy, greater fuel-efficiency standards and public transit?

It is (more than) a little sickening, and makes all those crackpot conspiracy theories about how there are cheap, clean, efficient, renewable energy sources all developed and ready to go but the oil lobby doesn't want you to know about them so they're suppressing them just that tiny bit less crackpot. Although I fight against that last part.

Sigh.
