hey [livejournal.com profile] bryghtboy, a French exercise -- see if you can recognize the tune!

Fiche le camp, Jacques
Et ne reviens plus jamais, jamais, jamais, jamais!
Fiche le camp, Jacques, et ne reviens plus jamais.

I was quite taken aback to hear this (in a taxi... I don't generally listen to CKOI if I can help it) but decided I liked it. Unexpected.

Stayed late at work screwing around on the Web, then stayed later watching the guys put the latest build together and annoying them with ignorant questions. It is very exciting to see the thing coming together and I wish I'd had enough time to devote to it this week, because I don't feel like I've been doing anything much really... well, I helped prioritize the CRL, I guess that's something...

Devil project continues devilish. Double whammy today (triple if you count the client annoying me with what text to put on the front of the binder): they suddenly noticed that they didn't like the PowerPoint template (I mean YES I should have noticed that the style guide prohibits that particular use of their logo, but ON THE OTHER HAND they have had it for a MONTH now, did nobody LOOK at it?), and the woman from the copyright place figured out that (a) I wasn't an employee of the client, (b) I wasn't in the US, (c) the program was going to be distributed outside the US as well. (Note, it's not like any of this was a big secret -- possibly she could have got a clue from the domain on my email address before this? -- note also that I've never had to deal with copyright permissions before, sue me. /defensive) Meaning that we don't actually have any of the permissions we thought we had. Fuck. Why me? The first is mainly dealt with (waiting for OK on new templates), the second I'm just going to deal with on Monday. God dammit.

Good things happened this week though; I feel I should mention some of them, as it's been nothing but bitching and quizzes around here lately:

  • P's baby sheep photos: definitely a highlight. Can't eat lamb this month as a result...

  • Book club. Liking this. It's fun to get together over a nice meal and discuss the book, get others' perspective on it, and so on. This month was Voyage in the Dark by Jean Rhys, which I wasn't mad about, although it grew on me in conversation (or at least I saw a few more depths in retrospect). Might even read it again... interesting to learn how autobiographical her books were, considering the subject matter!

  • The Women Support Farscape campaign pepped me up quite considerably!

  • I made it to the gym on Wednesday night. Yay me. Not for long, but 'tis better than nothing.

  • Work efficiency. Nobody's going to thank me for it, most certainly not the client ("So you're going to be sending me this over the weekend?" -- screw you and your twisted sense of humour, buddy), but we got all the documents but the biggest revised, formatted and out the door in 4 days. And the biggest is all done except for the bloody reprint copyright problem. That, for those who like numbers, is 41 documents (it was fewer but Darryl broke a few of 'em up).

    Not too shabby, thank you.

  • Oh yeah... and Friday came!
