House update: Wednesday -- now with parrots

First ever email post. Let's see if it works. My aunt reports:

Today for lunch, Dan, John and I had chilli on toast. Last night, Gill, Mike, John and I had the culinary miscalculation for dinner.

Ron the Duct did ducts. Bill is working on the drywall. Dan moved boxes to facilitate same.

With the advent of professionals, John, as general contractor, has also taken on gofer duties. He, voluntarily, went to buy coffee--the very first time by his very own self. He bought drywall screws, and looked at new high impact drills. He is still general contractor, consulting with Ron on the placement of ducts, which were designed without consideration that the walls are not aligned.

John managed to get the truck going in a circle, but did not think it fit enough to get up the hill to Lyn's. Dan says it is probably "singing in the choir invisible."

Dan is proposing to cut down the lilac to allow removal of crud from back garden. I approve. Lilacs are better if treated harshly. Dan will also do nailers.

I believe the culinary miscalculation may refer to last Friday (http://www.livejournal.com/users/electricland/430109.html#cutid2). It was meat pie. Mummy said it was really good and she ate Jen's helping too because Jen was sickly.

I am hoping the Lilac will grow back. Do they do that?

Interesting link. Apparently I need to pretty much chop down my long-neglected lilac bush (which is nearing 15 feet in height) so it will grow back properly.

Lilac can be incredibly hardy. My father *hates* the smell of lilac and we had one on our property in Westmount. He cut it down and used the cut-up branches to stake up his tomato plants. Not only did the tree regrow, but each of the stakes put out roots and leaves and turned into a lilac bush. He was NOT happy.
