I turned it on at the start of the third period, just in time to watch the Americans score five straight goals.

And they accuse our team of running up the score. Pfft.

I still can't figure out how they can keep the opponents from skating right in on goal if they're not allowed to bodycheck.

Oooh, you saw it! I was just working off the live updates from the official site. ("Ooh, another penalty. Oops. Another penalty. And... the U.S. just scored. Again.")

What was the goalie's delay-of-game penalty about? And was it as ugly a game as it looked like from the penalties?

As I understand it, contact is allowed, but you have to be going for the puck. So, I can bump you in passing if I'm trying to get the puck away from you, but I can't just check you before I go for the puck.

Something like that anyway.

FYI, CBC just started the encore presentation a couple of minutes ago.

The goalie was bumped, and dropped her stick and blocker, so to stop play she shoved the net off its moorings and tried to blame an opposing player.

And was it as ugly a game as it looked like from the penalties?

The third period was pretty ugly, yes.

As I understand it, contact is allowed, but you have to be going for the puck. So, I can bump you in passing if I'm trying to get the puck away from you, but I can't just check you before I go for the puck.

Ah, okay - that makes some sense, then. I know I saw them going into the corner after the puck a few times, and it seemed to get a little rough, and I was wondering why there was no call. It seemed inconsistent.

Whoops, my mistake - I just realized, they're showing the Canada-Sweden game, not the US-Finland game.
