Hee. I think you're absolutely right. Definitely teen TV has played a role here. And I have to say that in my spoiledsnobbish wildly overprivileged (ahem) way I too was lifting an eyebrow at the Eiffel Tower and the Space Needle.
(I'm still trying to figure out whether I own any "designer" items. I mean, other than all the dining room chairs I inherited from my grandmother. I think if your boots count, my chairs probably count.)
