shiplap is a, ah, type of edge joint. Like tongue & groove? Except where t&g has a tongue on one side and a groove on the other, sort of a 33/33/33 % deal, shiplap is 50/50. I'm totally empty on ways to expain this. It overlaps. Nuff said.
