House update: Tuesday
May. 9th, 2006 01:47 pmMy aunt reports:
**Will be interested to see how this turned out.
***Hurray!
****I *heart* the Beaches Collective.
And let's not forget that I have all the necessary bits for my kitchen! Seriously, this is a big deal, because:
- cabinet over microwave (NEW) -> finish installing wall cabinets -> install microwave
- feet (NEW) -> finish installing base cabinets -> (1) install plumbing for dishwasher -> install all appliances
-> (2) install counters
-> (3) install sink
(1), (2), (3) + minor fiddly bits like doors -> kitchen is DONE
-> second floor bathroom and third floor storage no longer contain so much crap -> finish both of these -> move in!
Oh, did I mention that Jen and I both received census forms? We did. Have informed our respective parents that, appearances to the contrary, we live at our house, not theirs.
I am officially overloaded at work. This is good, in a way, as it adds the necessary element of pressure without which I can do nothing.
Today for lunch, Dan, Dave, John, Mike and I had pistou soup and bread and cheese.*My guess is this is the strip on the party wall above the original plaster, where the curve of the ceiling used to be. That, or the strip in the middle that has to be added because our house does not conform to standard measurements and the first floor ceilings are 9' high.
As of yesterday afternoon, the front hall drywall is complete, including the 'little strip' (?).* Dan and Dave worked on flooring in Jen's middle room and kitchen, and on the grout in Jen's bathroom to flatten out the curvy wall.**
Robin's bathroom sink is now drip-free.*** (Be careful who you invite in future.)
William is straightening doors with a jig, and worked on drywall.
John installed pigtail lights in the first floor for the floor guys, who, it turns out, are coming on Wednesday, and worked again on switches. Met Ken and Carol during daily run to IGA and they will come, probably Monday, to install more plugs.****
Cheers, Helen
