Gorgeous and sunny today, so my mood has bounced right back up. Also, the daffodils I bought from the Cancer Society have opened. Spring will arrive! It will!

Really must clean today. And cook (probably pasta — not very adventurous but I know I can do it successfully, plus there is no point buying two kinds of Italian sausage for spaghetti sauce and then not making the sauce). And more laundry. Really, after you've done 3 loads of laundry you should get a break on it for a bit, don't you think? But no.

Saw Far from Heaven last night with Esther and her friend Roz. Gorgeous to look at (those reds! those greens!), beautifully acted, but sad — what's going to become of her now? The Forum has loads of stuff on that I want to see and haven't yet: Spirited Away, The Quiet American, L'Auberge Espagnole, The Pianist, and one or two others as well... Esther's behind too, so we may have a wee orgy of moviegoing.

OK, housework. I say this every weekend and never do any. Perhaps if I try what I can do in 30 minutes, then stop?

Far From Heaven was brilliant. Just stunning. And so incredibly amazing to look at.

You must see Spirited Away--Flip and I agree that it's even better than Princess Mononoke (possibly because we are spared the "I am going to give the Forest God back his head" line: some things just don't translate)--and I've going to go see the Pianist as soon as I can afford the movies again.

My room mate heartily recommends The Quiet American; I'm told The Pianist is a great film as well, but I haven't mustered up the emotional energy to go see such a heavy movie yet.
