electricland: (house plan)

Last night I learned how to wire light fixtures and wired two of the pot
lights in my kitchen. Very time-consuming and I screamed with frustration
from start to finish: breaking the little circles out of the box, wedging
the clamp thingies into the holes, threading the wires through the clamps,
stripping the wires, twisting sets of three wires together with Marr
connectors, and last but not least the exercise in bonkers 3D geometry
that is fitting the whole stupid assembly into the hole in the ceiling. I
think my favourite part of wiring pot lights is having a finished light
fixture at the end of the process. Ten and a half to go (there's one in my
living room that hasn't had the final step performed yet). Still, it is a
useful skill. I should try to learn one or two useful skills a week, I
think; it would be so good for me. (I learned how to pump up tires and
read the air gauge on Sunday; that probably counts.)

Then went to John and Helen's, watched Foyle's War, ate
fondue and leftover samosas and spring rolls, went home to bed. I am
reading Fool
Moon
by Jim Butcher, but it's failing to grab me. On the other hand my
copy of Permanent
Rose
is waiting for me at the library and I'm VERY excited about that.

Jen sent a Globe and Mail story about lack
of sleep being linked to job dissatisfaction
. I believe it. On the
other hand my productivity scheme is going quite well, so yay me!
