Last night I did several things I haven't done in a while, if ever:
  • Left the office before 6 (Gia and Steph both teased me mercilessly)

  • Tried on a bikini at Simons (nice, but I decided my life would not be materially altered if I thought about it for a bit)

  • Took a belly-dancing class at the Y

  • Went to pick up my car from Kelly & Jean's and discovered the battery was dead so helped shove it out of the driveway and onto the street and had to call CAA and get a boost so wound up driving around parts of the city I've never seen before for half an hour to charge up the battery

Belly-dancing was fun, although I am completely uncoordinated; I was OK with the individual movements but as soon as it came to putting them together I was lost. The great advantage to it as far as I can see is that a little flab is a positive asset. You can shimmy better that way.

Damn, though, if I keep it up my abs are going to be things of beauty.

It's Friday! I'm going to go see if there are any bagels left.

Shimmying your way to rock-hard abs...

A bikini? I salute your courage (hefts grapefruit juice in air). Simons has some nice swimstuff, I was in there yesterday around 11:00ish, almost bought an off-white cardigan, then decided against it :)

Belly-dancing! I didn't know they offered this at the Y! Do you have to be a member to take the class? In continued parallelism, I walked through the Y at around 10:15ish yesterday. First time in there since the massive renovations. It looks lovely.

Hurrah for a little sexy flab!

What parts of Montreal were you able to explore?

I go to the Westmount Y (but if you're a member of one Montreal Y you can use any of 'em I believe). I think you have to be a member to take most of their classes although there are always day passes. This is a new class -- Thursdays at 7:15. I haven't been into the downtown one but I've heard the renovations are amazing (super-duper pool etc.).

The car and I decided to head west on Sherbrooke so I got to see large stretches of NDG (that's where the Loyola campus and the Oscar Peterson Hall are!) and Montreal West. Drove about as far west as Sherbrooke goes and turned right at the level-crossing, then up to Cote-St-Luc, then back down through NDG. It was nice!

I was quite tempted by the bikini but I wasn't sure that that particular one (a rather lurid red & blue flower print) was THE bikini for me. I have a very nice one-piece so I'm going to think about it. I was very tempted by some of their other stuff but I decided that buying new clothes on low blood sugar would be Bad.

3 words:

Boy-cut bottoms.

Sooooo reassuring and confidence-inducing compared to the regular skimpy awfulness. No riding-up inadvertent-thong issues.
