House update: Wednesday
Jan. 31st, 2007 02:12 pmMy aunt reports:
Sunday. Went to Sears, 4th floor, checked out the fridges, found one that
was (a) big, (b) efficient, (c) cheap, (d) not hideous, found it was the
last one, bought the floor model, had it delivered (free, and the old one
taken away) the next day. Total time expended approx. 10 minutes.
There's a lot to be said for having bought 12 appliances in the recent
past. We're good at this. Mind you, we were just lucky the thing
cleared the overhead pipes in the basement -- I didn't think to measure
that, and there's only about 2 inches to spare.
No sooner was it in the house than the vacuum cleaner died. Some sort of
natural law operating there, one feels.
I desperately need to do some housework. Am proud to report, however, that
I slapped a coat of paint on the newly primed patch on my bathroom wall
this morning before showering. You have to grab your opportunities as they
arise. One more coat, then I'll put the towel rail back.
Today for lunch, Dan and John had corned beef sandwiches, withI helped to buy that beer fridge! With Jen, on
a healthy garnish of cheese and dill pickles.
Dan has been working on Jen's bookshelves and John on Jen's
laundry. Dan is off to Rona. Dan had to take a brief break this morning to
help Jetsin move a refrigerator at Palmerston Avenue and buy a cucumber
for Josh at Gabby's. We have a new energy-efficient beer frig and a new
vacuum. The excitement never stops.
Cheers, Helen
