House update: End of an era

My aunt reports:

Dan has left us!!!

John and I will miss him very much. Me for lunch and his conversation, and
John because John doesn't like carpentry and likes Dan.

By mutual agreement all round, mutually, it was decided a while ago that
Dan would leave for "fresh woods {not from Capital Fairbank] and pastures
new." Mid-morning today he called and said he'd finished his current
project--Jen's bookcase--and didn't think it would be useful to start on a
new one.

Since the main reason for these emails was to keep Rob and Jen up-to-date
on progress, I will not be sending any unless there are really exciting
developments to report.

Today for lunch, John and I had udon noodle soup with a tempura garnish.
