Jun. 4th, 2007 05:19 pmSo today I had a performance planning meeting, and my boss said "Ever consider doing a Masters?" Which I have, and now am again, except the question is always "what in?" Because grad school is, as I know from observation, a lot of work and stress*, and I don't want to spend that amount of time on something I'm not passionate about. There are areas that interest me, and I have to admit the extra letters after my name would be nice (perils of working in an academic environment -- three-quarters of my colleagues are doctors of something or other and loads of the rest have masters'). But but but.
I did poke about a bit looking for potential programs at U of T and Ryerson. There's some interesting stuff out there that I've no idea if I'm qualified for; some of them even offer part-time programs. And I could look into distance learning, although I'm not sure that's a great idea for me. Of course this is completely the wrong time of year to be making plans (unless I want to get a really amazing jump on 2008).
I also looked again at the rollercoaster craziness that is my McGill transcript. For programs that want to see a B average or higher in my last year of undergrad, I'm golden. For the last TWO years, not so much. It is, at this distance, almost amusing. Almost.
*and if you get in it's even worse!
