It continues to snow
Nov. 22nd, 2007 03:52 pmWhich, while it has messed up many people's plans, is kind of pretty. Every now and then I glance up at the Canada Life tower to confirm that, yup, still snowing. (When I'm out and about, that is. There's a building in the way just at present.)
In the process of tidying my bathroom on the weekend I rediscovered my pedometer (emblazoned with the name of Jen's employer -- she gave it to me 'cause she has another one that's all fancy) and have started wearing it again. I have thus discovered that my present activity level approximates that of a sea slug. I'm averaging about 4000 steps a day, which sounds quite like a lot but really isn't; it gets me to and from work by public transit and maybe to choir, with a couple of trips to the bathroom now and then. Apparently one should aim for at least 10,000 (15,000 if you want to lose weight, which I don't particularly). By coincidence, yesterday's Globe featured a column by Leslie Beck on pedometers [read it before it disappears behind a pay wall], discussing this JAMA article which unfortunately is behind a subscription wall. Still. Interesting stuff. I shall hereby choose a goal (10,000 steps a day or bust!) and continue to write down my daily step count.

Date: 2007-11-22 10:06 pm (UTC)but go you for the exercise. I keep not going to the gym, which is Bad, because I get all tense and cranky when I don't go. It's so much easier to go home and sit on the couch...
