(no subject)

My CD player appears to be fucked (noooooo! I have new CDs and nothing to play them on!). Luckily my aged copy of Smart Shopping Montreal lists a number of repair shops so I'll see what they can do. Argh. Radio for me for the next few days. I think it's just the little thingy that turns the CDs that's bust, but heaven only knows if this is fixable... still, being that it's one of, what, 2 moving parts?, I think it should be a fairly common problem.

Went in to work for a bit today, everyone was surprised to see me and said I look all relaxed and happy, which is just as it should be. Got through 160 emails in my inbox, most of them irrelevant (and that's not even counting mailing lists and personal emails and jokes, which I filter to other folders). Unfortunately, some lousy news awaited me. Steph is leaving, it's official this time, and there's worse... don't really feel like discussing the worse right now, but it took the edge off the happy homecoming a bit. However, none of my projects went nuclear while I was gone, so that's good. In point of fact very little seems to have progressed at all. Ah well...

If worse comes to worse, I have one you can have the next time you visit - it's old and has to be hooked up through a receiver using RC cords though. But they don't make them this good anymore.

thank you! that's really kind. If my bank account screams bloody murder next time I look at it, as I suspect it will, I may take you up on the offer.

What is an RC cord?

I think they're called RCA cords, but I may be wrong. Pretty standard for connecting AV equipment, so it should work for any receiver you have.

I got this CD player from my aunt for free when I moved back to Ontario and although it's pretty old, they don't make them this good any more, even if it is a basic model. Besides which I have my DVD player that can play CDs, my PC and my room mate's stereo in the living room.

Given that my receiver is well on its way to being a genu-wine antique (got it from my grandparents -- the case is solid wood) I don't anticipate any problems. Thank you! I will keep it in mind!

My speakers are about 40 years old too -- they were my dad's.
