Absolutely! My mother had a huge one when I was growing up, and it was neat to see that happen. The flowers looked almost like half lilies, with this long stalk of pollen in the middle of the petal(s).
In opposition to my mother, however, I have a black thumb. I tend to kill plants, and entirely by accident. But, my son gave me a small spider plant for Mother's Day, and I've managed to keep it alive (and it's grown!) since then. It's actually due for a repotting pretty soon, at the rate it's going. I may actually end up with a nice big spider plant! :)
I have a book called "Ten Plants You Can't Kill... Unless You Really Try Hard".
Spider plants are in there. Also philodendrons. I must say, I've had decent luck with mine so far. And my aloe. (OK, I killed one aloe, but I think it had suicidal leanings anyway.)
One day I may try a jade plant -- they're supposed to have marvellous feng shui as well, which would be a bonus. ;)
