You should be doing what you love. -- Barbara Sher
Mentioned to a friend the other day, while trying to figure out how to help her past being blocked on something, that I'd started reading this again (for some reason, despite professing to scorn the things, I have a spookily large collection of self-help books and most of them sit by my bed). She said "to hell with THAT, I KNOW what I want, it's getting there that's the problem."

So I was thinking about it and reading the book and visiting the author's site (nb: eyestrain warning) and I realized I know what I want too. Well, some of it. It's vague. But you have to figure out what you want as the first step, even if it seems unattainable. So...

I want a townhouse or a ground floor apartment with a garden -- not a big one, just enough to grow a few plants and sit out in.
I want a dog.
I want to travel regularly and adventurously.
I want to be able to spend lots of time at the cottage.
I want to go camping.
I want a job where I don't feel like the rock and the hard place are coming after me, and where I feel like I'm helping people rather than corporations.
I want to go out West and visit [livejournal.com profile] raithen for Labour Day.

So there. Some things to work towards. At least the last is within my reach.

*HUGE SMILE*

And you go girl. Much of that is within your reach. And you HAVE been travelling -- somewhat adventurously at that!

And may I suggest some casual dwelling hunting. You clearly are ready to move again, and you have your list of desires: ground level or townhouse, small garden of sorts, pet friendly. Keep your eye out, your ear to the ground. And if you decide tostay in Montreal, maybe you'll find what you want!

Also, we are still safe -- getting pumps ready, and getting the camper loaded & trailer hooked up SHOULD something happen, but so far, so good.

*RAINDANCE*

Glad you're all OK. MORE rain here this evening. It really is unfair.

And, thanks!

The dog and travel wishes might be mutally exclusive to a certain extent... unless you get a very sedate little puppy who likes to sleep for weeks at a time. Camping and dogs go great together, but camping and rain make your feet weep. So not to nit-pick but perhaps stuff and stuff... :P

As for the rest of it, adventure is where you find it and I wish you all the best of luck in finding something that might make you want to say the word "snerkle" in a good way.

I was gonna say the exact same. Dogs and travels...hm. But maybe dogs are cool with it. But that's the reason I'm not getting a new cat, though I do miss Fritz considerably!

Apart from that, good on ya. It helps to know what you want. Good luck!

Anything is possible. (a) my parents like dogs and (b) I've read Travels with Charley (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0140053204/qid=1060012641/sr=8-2/ref=sr_8_2/002-5748642-7075214?v=glance&s=books&n=507846). My old dog was cool with travel. It can be done!
