Book club last night (finally! only 2 months late). We met at Futenbulle, up on Bernard near Parc, which I'll have to revisit because I didn't get the impressive beer menu until after I'd already gone ahead and ordered a Keith's. Which is nice, but not exactly a major departure. Food was good too. Boiling hot, though, and rather dusty due to construction outside. But they had funky wrought-iron tables.

Only four of us made it and we all pretty much agreed Resurrection Men sucked. I'm the only one that's read other Rankins and I was really disappointed. (Granted, I was recalling it from 3 months on -- I left my copy in Edinburgh -- but still.)

Maria, Eileen and I then walked down Parc, past Molson Stadium where the Alouettes game was letting out, down University and along Sherbrooke. I wimped out at Peel and got the bus, but it was good to get some exercise. The air was particularly chewy and visible -- you could see why there was a smog warning yesterday, and the back of my throat is still raw. Cooler and, I hope, clearer today.

When we walked through the McGill campus there were three couples sitting in the little park by the engineering buildings. The crickets were loud as hell. It was nice.
