The funeral is on Monday at 1:30. I do want to go, but I have a birthday party to get to Sunday evening and I don't want to miss it. My travel options (which my mother has offered to subsidize, but I don't want to go all nuts) are therefore essentially:

Bus (leave Montreal around midnight, get in 7 a.m., pay $130 round-trip).
Train (leave Montreal around 11 p.m., get in 8 a.m., pay $300 round-trip for a sleeper or slightly less to sit up).
Plane (leave Montreal 11 p.m., get in 12:30 a.m., pay slightly over $300 round-trip plus taxi at both ends).

Brian and I took the VIA overnight train on the way back from Montreal, it's very nice! The overnighters are different from their regular ones; they're very comfortable and mostly empty in the non-sleeper cars.
