Merry post-Christmas!
Dec. 29th, 2003 01:13 pmChristmas was merry. Christmas Eve lobster at my cousins, Steve and Patti and their two kids (who have suddenly become adorable rather than annoying and/or painfully shy -- guess that's what happens when you only see them once a year). Christmas Day brunch with my mum's side of the family. Dinner with my dad's side at our place for the first time ever -- my father is very pleased because this means we get the leftover turkey. It was very good, although late, and if we do it again next year I'll have to bring crackers because I missed them.
Present-giving went well -- I have been much spoiled and people seemed very pleased with what I got them, so the anguish was worth it. Storage options figured very prominently in my prezzies: sort-of toolboxes from my parents (
raithen, if you're still looking for grooming kit boxes, you should have a look at these, they rock), a footstool/chest from my grandmother, and a highly-equipped knitting bag from J (for which I gather I have
crankygrrl and
raithen's good advice to thank, so thank you girls, it is wonderful!).
Boxing Day I was felled by illness, some 48-hour bug which I'm nearly over. Yay for drugs. Lolled about in bed reading Asterix, P.G. Wodehouse and Georgette Heyer until I felt better.
Currently messing with my dad's computer, which is giving him fits although in perfectly OK working order. Need to figure out some way to make security and updates as painless as possible for him, because alerts and dialog boxes of any kind throw him into fits. I've installed the trial version of ZoneAlarm but I have a horrid feeling the best solution to the firewall issue may be to hook the router back up, and I don't know how to make it work with Sympatico and I don't wanna. Perhaps tomorrow I will feel stronger.
Various vague plans for the rest of the week. What does one wear to a Vegas party?

Date: 2003-12-29 10:31 am (UTC)I cannot believe that any other human being has this set of books in their house.
We have a nearly complete collection of Asterix, a large and growing collection of Wodehouse, and some Heyer. (Although Heyer is my family's obsession, not mine.)
