that wasn't so bad, now, was it?
Mar. 22nd, 2004 10:34 pmWeek is starting off quite well, if rather fraught.
Done:
- Conference call this morning. Productive. Yay!
- Delivery this afternoon. 59 references, 3 3-inch binders per set, 2 25-kg and 1 10-kg box. We'd actually have been in plenty of time if S hadn't had to print out her 500-page document on the only colour printer Production has access to (I had to go and plead with someone in Marketing to print my storyboard on their printer). I am going to raise hell about this tomorrow. As it was we made it to FedEx with 10 minutes to spare -- yay us. As a bonus, editor now understands the full joy of these deliveries in all their gory glory, and has vowed that this is never never going to happen again -- so we're all on the same page here.
- Evil drug reviews. Just finished my last one. They're all crap, but we really don't care at this point. (Inara came by this afternoon and looked at Derin and me frantically putting references in binders and said "Oh. You're not editing?")
- Missing PIs for evil drug reviews located
[ETA: And when I did my timesheet this morning I discovered I worked 52 hours last week. Go me.]
Still to do:
- Get car open (it was frozen shut when I left last night, so I took the bus -- at least I would have taken the bus if it had shown up, but it didn't, so as I was freezing to death I took a taxi)
- Stick full-size images in a document and send down
- Raise stink re: printer
- Request vacation (the fact that I am calm and on top of things TODAY does not mean that I am not still super-stressed and liable to fly off the handle at small silly things)
- Tidy apartment (parents are coming to stay this weekend, I think) -- aaaaagh! Not aaaaagh to parents, I want to see them, but aaaagh to state of apartment. Also, hide the laptop so my dad doesn't ask about it. (What could cause a laptop to just plain not turn on? Final gasp of the battery? AC adapter burnt out? Help!)
- Go to Meetup tomorrow so
keyef can twist my arm and make me go to the Meetup
- At some point, go to gym and embark on program of self-care, because I've really been neglecting myself more than is healthy
Sad thing: my boss rushed out of the office this afternoon while we were doing references saying only that it was a family emergency and he had to leave. We were worried there might be something wrong with his girlfriend or his toddler, but found out later that his brother died. My boss is in his mid- to late 30s. We don't know any details, but it's distressing.
It is late. I'm going home. But thanks to
javahousejihad for evidence that it's just as bad as you think, if not worse.
