Joy was, as I suspected, premature. Email yesterday: client "disappointed" in result. They found bugs (which we'd never seen), plus "fast-forward should be disabled in the tutorial" and "we're a little disappointed in the opening splash screen" (yes, 2 disappointeds in a single email). I flipped out, naturally... turns out however that they weren't testing it on the right machine (duh, people) and "it works all right now"... although they still want to gate the damn tutorial. Why, I ask? Why piss off half your users by insisting they take the tutorial, which serves no useful purpose in the first place? -- and not only the tutorial but the entire tutorial? Why?

Will try to talk them out of that one.

Fortunately she only works every 2nd day so I have time to calm down and frame my reply in a nice tactful adult fashion.

Must get back to doing yoga in the mornings. It really does help keep me calm and sane.

Perhaps will try taking afternoons off for rest of week. That would also do me good. On to happier topics (and no, my nonexistent Christmas list is not one of these...)

Reread The Dispossessed on Sunday, and UKLG's introduction to a later edition in The Language of the Night yesterday. She mentions that "the sound of axes being ground is sometimes audible..." -- true, but it's still a marvellous book. Her themes do appeal to me -- truth, and being true to oneself, and the need for every person in a society to constantly re-examine that society and their place in it. Not that this is something I've been doing much of lately. That reminds me...

(dear God, the Romanow report is 391 pages long... the climate change plan is only 75. Well, downloaded 'em both, anyway, but shall not read 'em tonight.)

Anyway. I'm still reading Basic Training for Horses too (thanks Paula!), and really enjoying it. Not that I'm going to get to practice any time in the forseeable future, but knowledge is never wasted, right?

And a final happy thought: there is again a Belgian chocolate shop in my building! Went in on Sunday. Mmmmmm. Soooo good.

Time to go home, I think, as I don't seem to be saying anything of importance.
