whoever scribbled "Femme objet" on the Warner's billboard at my bus stop.

Yeah, it's a woman in a bra. The point is, the ad is selling bras (which is possibly the only acceptable use for an image of a woman in a bra). This particular line of ads also happens to feature fun and, in my opinion, positive images of women -- the French text is too slangy for me to puzzle out entirely, but the English line of ads has tag lines like "I don't do flannelette" and "Burn my bra? Just try it". This amuses me. It takes a particular kind of screwy logic to decide that these ads objectify their subjects.

This is distinct from, oh, to take a random example, the three-storey Buffalo Jeans billboard at the corner of Sherbrooke and Decarie, featuring the girl sprawled on the floor with her hand shoved down her jeans and her undies showing. (See it here!) There, if you like, is a femme objet. Or the You're On Your Own ads, in which the girl is not only miserable, but shirtless.

Get a grip, people.

Frell. I remember this project now (FINALLY got the documentation that goes along with it). I remember helping scope it waaay back when and convincing Michel it was completely insane. Well, now it's mine, all mine.

Shit.

Let's just recap, shall we?

Content is mostly written (thank God). Freelancer starts to workshop-ize it tomorrow but we don't actually know what components the client wants to see. (REALLY need to talk to the client NOW.)

*Interlude -- talked to Thierry -- read the final proposal properly -- no video. Thank you, thank you God.*

OK, the hysterical panic is maybe unnecessary now that I know this. It's just the usual Bob Half-Million-Dollar We-Can-Do-Everything scoping, fortunately toned down before it was sent to the client.

Breathing...

Need an artist. Still need to talk to the client.

Moving along. Freelancer delivers material by Tuesday. We edit for the next 2-3 days and deliver script to the client on Friday (i.e., the last day we're open before the 2-week Christmas holiday). Client reviews script. If they have any issues, they deliver these to the account director who delivers them to yet ANOTHER freelancer who presumably deals with it all in time for it to be nice 'n ready for January 6th when we get back into the office. Everybody with me?

We then (presumably) deliver to the client for another round of review; add any images required (photo shoot? stock photos?); record and incorporate the narration (multiple characters) into a PowerPoint presentation (how? -- oh, good, that's fairly easy); and deliver it all for a workshop on January 16th.

Doable... but hideously tight. Jeez...
