[livejournal.com profile] headgardener has what I think is an excellent plan for the upcoming Year of the Monkey.

Sorry I haven't been around much -- get hysterically busy all of a sudden and people's disasters and triumphs slip right by you.

I had a rant, but I bled off most of the pressure to [livejournal.com profile] raithen, [livejournal.com profile] crankygrrl and J in email this morning, so that's a pleasure deferred for the rest of you.

Back to work. Not having most of my Outlook available for four hours this morning really threw me off, I tell ya...

Yowza!

Just reading over my past few entries. Apparently I've been more tense and snappish than I realized for days and days. I'm glad to be busy again (although I could do without the extra stress caused by all the stuff they're doing to the computers around here), but I really need to get to the gym. I think I'll wait until I'm rid of this cough, though, out of concern for my health and the sanity of my fellow exercisers.

Also, I hate going anywhere while it's this cold. I want to hibernate. I want to lie in bed and read and doze until April.

A consequence of not exercising has been insomnia. It's not that I'm not tired when I get home -- I am, but also stressed, and my brain can't seem to get off it a lot of the time. Small, stupid things loom at me out of all proportion. Last night I lay awake until a ridiculous hour seething over an outing the night before with a coworker. I turned the light on twice to write down the most maddening bits. And this was after two hours of lighthearted TV and knitting, mark you. I won't repeat it here, yet, because yeah, trying to be positive.

About that TV: [livejournal.com profile] crankygrrl is a wonderful woman. I may not have mentioned it before, but I don't have cable, and she has (voluntarily!) taken up the task of seeing that I don't lack for quality TV. Every month or so I get a pile of new tapes that I can peruse at my leisure. This is well above and beyond the call of friendship and I don't thank her nearly enough for it. You're the best.

[livejournal.com profile] raithen: sorry, hon, not gonna make it to the library tonight, but I'll go on the weekend.

Good things happening this weekend:

Tonight: see friends I haven't seen for ages for dinner in Old Montreal.
Tomorrow: brunch with Mary, hearthwarming at [livejournal.com profile] emjayne and [livejournal.com profile] moonlightjoy's new place. Squee!
In general: clean, pay bills, give to charity, get my life in order prior to Chinese New Year (my last chance to start the new year with a clean slate)

Good things happening in general:

Martin-who-sits-across-from-me is a father as of 1:06 a.m. It's a girl! Elisabeth, judging by her photographs, looks perfectly adorable and has lots of black hair.
I'm busy again. I missed this.
It's the weekend!
