electricland: (This Is Wonderland)
Yesterday's report went mysteriously astray, but J forwarded it to me.

Today, I fed the hooligans chicken pies (carefully defrosted all morning) and a warm basil, tomato, bacon and lettuce salad.

I'm pleased that David is back because now Dan is not so bored. Dan reports that their conversation has centred around history/politics, mythology and meaningless name-calling. I think, perhaps, they excel at the last.

Dan evidently got a lot of grief by changing the radio station to what others thought was Celine Dionne. It wasn't.

Dan and David are furing the studs of R's top floor. They sincerely hope that R likes a lot of 'character' in her walls.

John is still in the basement wiring.

Last night after the dump, R, John came home, dumped all his clothes in the basement, had a shower and then came to watch television without changing. Mike was a little taken aback, when he came in.

Cheers, H
Character in my walls is good... I think...? I'm looking for a sort of medieval vibe, so that may actually work out very well.

Just got back from a meeting that went much better than it had any right to, considering I was totally unprepared for it. Feeling moderately crappy, but more energized -- it's nice that it's cooler today. Onward!

Have I mentioned that the Hooligans, a.k.a. the Strong Young Men, are eating better than I am by a considerable margin? Because they are. This makes me feel much less guilty about exploiting them.

via, as you might guess, [livejournal.com profile] bookslut:

A disgruntled Harry Potter fan has released a "corrected" version of J.K Rowling's latest installment in the series, The Half-Blood Prince, prompting a storm of curiosity and support from many fans who disliked the direction of the story in the book. It has also, not surprisingly, prompted a storm of legal activity from Rowling's publishers.

"Whenever an author puts a work out into the universe, it is no longer their exclusive property anymore," said Mary Sue Pembroke, who is credited as the author of the modified book. "Harry Potter belongs to all of us, not just Rowling. She took some liberties with the story in this latest book that really weren't faithful to the logic of the narrative. My version is, I think it fair to say, much more faithful to the true Harry Potter mythos."
The supposed author's name makes me eye this story askance. But if it's true, it's kinda perfect.

[Edit: Thank you to [livejournal.com profile] monkeycommando for reading the sidebars and pointing out that "The Watley Review is dedicated to the production of articles completely without journalistic merit or factual basis ..."]

phew!

I was getting worried, but Season 3 of This Is Wonderland went into production Monday.

Nice of them to FINALLY update us. Now, if they'd only get off their butts and finish producing that Season 1 DVD...
electricland: (don't panic)
My aunt reports:

Today for lunch we had eggs Benedict, with a decorative garnish of orange slices.

The water man came in the morning, and will install what he's supposed to install within 4 weeks. The duct man came also and the planner of same will call shortly.

It turns out that all the stuff about stairs--Dennis Newman discussed this last night--was that they were bowed. As David reports, "This has since been rectified."

Dan and David are working on the box in the first floor bow window. J, you do not want it to be a seat, but rather storage.

Dan carried back a 4x4" to start to put together the half wall for the third floor stairwell.

The trucklet went in for repairs yesterday, and all is well.

Discussion ensued on internet hook-up. It was, as Ken Anderson defines it, a manly conversation: full of letters and numbers. RJ45, CAD5, VoIP, bluetooth. It is for you two to decide, but the consensus seemed to be that hard-wired hook-up would be more robust--and not hard because the walls are out. Wireless, however, lets you roam with your computer. Or, more jacks could be put in. Will you want wired or wireless? Would you like to share a router? Would make sense. Probably should be in the second floor because the walls aren't brick. If hard-wired, where would you like your computers set up? There could be more base plugs put in those locations to avoid the use of power bars. (I think I've got all this right, but I'm not sure.)

Cheers, H
