House update: Paint

Jen reports:

There are now 29 gallons of paint sitting in my parents’ dining room! I took about an hour and a half, but the guy at Rona was very helpful and keen to help me take advantage of the sale as far as possible. We got eight cans for free – it should have been only 7 but when Mike and I got them out of the car, there was an extra. I’m not really surprised, because it was more than a little confusing. I had to pay for each set of three cans, with the appropriate free one, separately, so I was hauling tins out of the cart, onto the counter, onto the floor, back into the cart, etc. But we saved about $400, I think.

Now, we just need to get it all on the walls!

We spent a great deal of time yesterday figuring out what we need in what colours. (Well, Jen did and I helped.) She was very relieved that we could buy it untinted and get it tinted later. (Edit: you were going to get a whole long list of paint colours and quantities, but the LJ Rich Text editor sucks just as much as any of its brethren that I've ever encountered, so you can get a table or a cut but not both, and I can't be bothered doing it the hard way. Sorry. The documentation will just have to be incomplete.)

and now for something completely different

Canadians! Everyone! Does anyone happen to have DVDs or tapes of either Da Vinci's Inquest or Forever Knight?

Let me explain. No, it would take too long. Let me sum up. A cousin needs them for a conference paper on gender and violence in Canadian crime television -- she's writing her dissertation on, I forget what exactly, but similar things -- and she is in England, where it is surprisingly hard to get hold of Canadian TV. You would get gratitude and acknowledgement out of it.

Anyway, please let me know...

House report: Tuesday

My aunt reports:

Today, Dan, John and I had lunch at Gabby's.

Yesterday, William put up J-trim in the stairwells and halls. Today, he and Dan worked on the kitchen side of Robin's pass-through.

I'm afraid I kept my serf at home. Almost finished basic kitchen cabinet installation.

Cheers, Helen
Also my parents took William to lunch. A day of lunch.

I went to the Planet in Focus film festival annual general meeting with my parents. Also signed up to volunteer, in a rash moment. Sent an email enquiring about volunteering to the Factory Theatre, too. What is this sudden madness? I'm feeling very uncultured and antisocial and generally in a rut, is what I suspect it is.

Tomorrow is Tilde's surgery. Fingers are crossed for her.
