Canadians! Everyone! Does anyone happen to have DVDs or tapes of either Da Vinci's Inquest or Forever Knight?

Let me explain. No, it would take too long. Let me sum up. A cousin needs them for a conference paper on gender and violence in Canadian crime television -- she's writing her dissertation on, I forget what exactly, but similar things -- and she is in England, where it is surprisingly hard to get hold of Canadian TV. You would get gratitude and acknowledgement out of it.

Anyway, please let me know...

I suppose I don't count, do I?

If you can get someone 'closer' use them, but I think I have a fair number of Forever Knight tapes hanging around - but I cannot verify their ... usefulness, in that they've got to be close to a decade old now. Half were taped by a Canadian, if that helps. :D The last season I believe I got off of late night TV here in the States.

I should've said "Canadians and those close to the border"!

I will ask. I expect they'd be very useful! Thanks!

I will hunt them down this evening, just to be on the safe side. I have no idea how many episodes I actually have, but I know I had a fair number of tapes.

I only have two episodes I recorded off the TV onto DVD: "Near Death" and "Ashes to Ashes". Does she have a fast internet connection? I might be able to copy them to disk and upload them to YSI.

That is, two of Forever Knight.

Da Vinci's Inquest reruns on the CBC and on Showcase a lot.

BTW, does she know about Cold Squad?

oh very cool.

She definitely knows about Cold Squad -- we racked our brains at the start of the academic year to come up with crime shows with a significant female presence, and I made sure that was on the list!

the academic connections in your family are really quite astounding!

Advantage of a huge family. I can come up with a cousinly example for just about anything! (Although in this case she's actually Jen's cousin, not mine, but close enough.)

also, it looks like DVI S1 might be out on DVD. Don't forget, too, if she's in England to check regions on the VHS/DVD - what region player applies there?

I'm assuming, since she's doing a whole dissertation on women in crime dramas (if memory serves), that she has a way around this. But I'll definitely ask.

Space is showing Forever Knight at 6 am on Sundays, and Showcase is airing DaVinci at 8 pm Mondays and Fridays, if you wanted to tape a couple of episodes for her. That's assuming that there's time to get enough to make it worthwhile.

The whole PAL/NTSC thing might be a problem, though. I know nothing about British VCRs or how they work.

I'm hoping she has a way around that, given just how much TV she's going to have to watch for this dissertation, but it's a worry!

Thanks for the suggestion -- that might be a good solution.
