What I did on my spring break
Apr. 19th, 2004 05:38 pmIn the interests of the New Improved Me, I should leave work pretty soon. Not that I've done anything close to 8 hours, but I'm tired and feeling kinda ineffective. I am soooo out of the habit of early rising. Going to buy a nifty stainless-steel travel mug for my coffee; sitting in my bedroom in the morning drinking coffee, while pleasant, is messing with my morning routine.
And walking in to discover a disaster had popped up in my absence was kinda annoying.
Vacation was great. I've spent all my money but it was worth it. Didn't get to see quite everyone I hoped to, but it was great to have a week to hang out instead of having to pack EVERYTHING into a weekend.
Score:
Saw a lot of: parents,
crankygrrl, cousin Jen, the regulars at the Jet Fuel (the two-year-old? Oh my god, ADORABLE!)
Saw a fair bit of:
mindrobber,
monkeycommando, Karenza, Granny (at Easter dinner and for tea),
bryghtboy and
keyef (for lunch and at
mindrobber's dinner party), the neighbours
Saw: other friends & family at
crankygrrl's birthday party and Easter dinner,
stilldeepwater for dinner and Freaky Friday (movie silliness was both necessary and helpful)
Met:
mr_weasel (he exists!) and his Lady (also at the dinner party, at which a fine time was had),
cretkid and
fbf (in Buffalo), sundry JF types, Jessica-the-neighbour's boyfriend
Watched: the first 40-odd minutes of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, which I was enjoying until we had to leave; The Prince and Me; Kill Bill vol. 1 (better late than never); Freaky Friday; Lipizzaner stallions (and one Andalusian who,
mthrtongue, was in fact wearing tassels) doing their thing; and School of Rock, which I'm pretty sure was good, except it made
crankygrrl's DVD player incredibly unhappy so I have only seen an extremely disjointed version thereof.
Bought: much food and drink (all over the place) many books (at Bakka and Eliot's -- I MISS Bakka! So so much! It was OK when Nebula filled the void, but not any more), little pack-of-cards-sized plastic clamshell case with tiny compartments for jewellery, pair of white pants with black pinstripes (Ann Taylor), purple linen skirt (J. Jill), and bags and cushions (Target, or, as we like to refer to it, Target -- with the French pronunciation, of course). Yay for cross-border shopping. J says, and I agree, that the key is to hit the stores we don't have up here.

Date: 2004-04-20 03:46 pm (UTC)Hm... it's been so long since I interviewed here, I can't remember. ;) That position is a kind of person Friday -- you need to do lots of different stuff, so act intelligent, flexible, outgoing and easy to get along with. A good working knowledge of French probably can't hurt either.
Wow, how generic was that?! Sorry.
Cynthia's the HR manager here -- she's very nice. I dunno who else you'll be interviewing with.
