Doctor update part 2

Progress!

My old doctor called this morning and explained that yes, the receptionist I spoke to is a twit, and she's had a few calls like mine. She said "I don't know why she keeps telling people I took the files with me. I didn't take them. They were never mine to take! I was just an employee!"

She also said that the files would have stayed right where they were and that they have to keep them for 10 years, by law. So I think I'll pursue this when I'm back in T.O. and can bother them in person.

Orrr... I could see if they'll take me back as a patient, and get a TB test and my first complete physical in years... hm.

You know, it's been baffling me as to why the doctor would have the records, but I thought this might be some strange Canadian and/or US custom I'd not heard of before.

Yep, me too. I know when my old doctor retired, she transferred all her patients to this practice, and I was worried that something similar might have been involved here that I didn't know about because of all the moves my family's made in the last 6 years. I was picturing notification letters sent out to my grandparents' old address, or one of my parents' several addresses, and not reaching me.

But it turns out that the receptionist is just a twit, so I'll proceed with that in mind from now on. ;)

I also need proof of MMR vaccination and chicken pox immunity (although they'll take my word for that last one. As well they should, dammit!).
