just to clarify (and thank you all):
Jul. 29th, 2004 08:53 amanother thing I won't miss about Montreal is the people who line up at the front of the bus to get off, the people who stand blocking the rear doors, and the people who will walk all the way from the back of the bus just to get off by the front doors. People who get off by the rear doors are the exception.
I'm pretty sure it's much worse here, but I was worried that the situation in Toronto might have gone downhill while I was gone.

Date: 2004-07-29 06:27 am (UTC)Generally, I think people who are forward of 1/3 of the way towards the front door (from the back door, not the back of the vehicle) may get off the front doors. But I'm just guessing.
Haven't noticed a problem with people blocking the back door. People more likely to get off the front if the bus is mostly empty, or its the last stop at night. Much less likely to do so during rush hour.
Also changes if they're planning to transfer, 'cause, you know, might as well get off where you have to get on again.

Date: 2004-07-29 08:40 am (UTC)On the plus side: No, it sounds like it's worse in Montreal than here.
On the minus side: The subway seems to get noisier here every time I ride it. Mind you, I've NEVER been able to read on the Toronto subway (never mind nap) the way I could on the Metro...
And I, personally, miss the smell of burning rubber metro tires... :)

Andrew
