Just realized that I've finally managed to organize my working space so that it's possible to clean my desk in 2 minutes flat, even if it's apparently a hopeless mess. This makes me happy.

I'm getting stuff done, ever so slowly...

The big news, of course, is that I moved into my new apartment on Saturday (with the much-appreciated help of bryghtboy, punmeister, crankygrrl's little brother [aka Big D], pariah_ink, my uncle and my parents). I thought it was a wonderfully smooth move. The boys even put my TV stand together, and bryghtboy unpacked large chunks of my kitchen. They're good to have around, I tell ya.

Sunday my mother lined my kitchen shelves with shelf paper for which I shall be forever grateful ('cause it had to be done, but I didn't wanna), and cousin J helped me put away my clothes. So I still have a living room full of boxes and not much else, but my bathroom and bedroom are habitable and my kitchen will be as soon as I unpack everything.

The only drawbacks to the place are the streetcars (I'm sure I'll get used to them in time) and the fact that the downstairs neighbour appears to be a smoker. You can't really tell except in the closets. I'll be getting some odour-absorbing stuff and some nice person (either my landlord or the former tenants) left a HEPA air purifier in the place, so I'll find new filters and all will be happy. It's noisy too, but I think I'll get earplugs.

And I'm busy every evening this week so I'm not altogether sure when all this is going to get done. Oh well.

(ETA: oh yeah. Got off the bus early and picked up my brand shiny new passport. I was surprised to see that they scan in the photo now -- it makes me look kind of green and fibrous, but if that's what they want, who am I to argue? "Yeah," the guy at the passport counter said, "it's full of new security features that I'm not allowed to talk about. Like the money.")

Any time you want some more help opening more boxes, I'm literally just up the street... so yeah :P

The streetcars aren't nearly as bad in the winter when the windows are closed. So good time to get accustomed I guess.

Well done you! I'm a little jealous. It'll be another year or so before I can afford to lug all my stuff over here and move into my own place... Still! Enjoy settling in! I love moving. (After the "actual" move, mind you :)
