Jan. 10th, 2005 09:39 amHmm. Week is starting reasonably well (although
crankygrrl was actually ON TIME at the coffee shop today, i.e. when I was just staggering out of bed -- the nerve).
Returned books to the library. Read this weekend: Beowulf (Seamus Heaney translation) and New Skies (anthology). Still have a stack, but may need to just cry uncle since the Month OfTorture Writing A Lot starts today.
Just heard from Car Heaven, they are picking up my car tomorrow *sniff* -- going over tonight for a farewell ceremony.
Puttered yesterday and didn't go outside (which means I didn't do laundry -- but I think I have just enough socks to make it). Dishes, muffins, took down Christmas decorations, changed sheets, etc.
Onward!

Date: 2005-01-10 05:34 pm (UTC)Your poor car. I hope it finds a happy home.
I love libraries. I would seriously go broke if I didn't borrow 90% of what I read from the library. (Why do I still have 1200 books, though?!)

Date: 2005-01-10 05:46 pm (UTC)And my poor car... well, it's going to be either refurbished or recycled in an environmentally responsible way. It's over 15 years old, I don't really need it now I'm back in Toronto, insurance is ridiculously expensive here and I was going to have to pay upwards of $1600 just to get it fixed enough to register it in Ontario... but I still feel like a horrible person for sending it away. I'll go over tonight and pour some champagne on its hood. Thank you for the good wishes.
*sniffle*

Date: 2005-01-10 05:52 pm (UTC)Your poor car. I know how you feel; I finally sold mine at the age of 14 last summer (also because it was planning to cost me a huge sum of money, for emissions). I felt terrible, too. I made my mechanic promise me that it would have a long happy retirement with some old lady that drives 3 miles a week, even though I suspect the horrible truth. It *does* feel like a betrayal. Hey, it had a long life, and it will end it all with a final good deed - there are worse ways to go.

Date: 2005-01-10 06:24 pm (UTC)Car Heaven gives a chunk of the proceeds to the charity of your choice (I went with the Red Cross, what with tsunamis and all), so yes, it IS a final good deed. I am not sure but I think they may also send me a certificate of some kind. And their logo has a little cloud-car pootling about the sky to make me feel better.
I am very very scared about MoToWriALo. Oh well. I'll buy myself a new notebook, that will make me happier.
